CONCERT
DESCRIPTION
Join us for À Deux, a recital featuring a2. orchestra founders Josh Spirek (Double Bass) and Aiden Labuschagne (Oboe). Built around the rare pairing of oboe and double bass, with piano accompaniment, this program explores a corner of classical music that’s rarely heard.
Alongside works by Mendelssohn, Mozart, Bach, Vanhal, and Britten, the duo will present a specially commissioned world premiere by Marcel Howell, and the Australian premiere of Goplerud’s "Schubert’s Trout Served Four Ways." The duo will also be performing "The Velocity of Angels", a piece they premiered back in 2022 by West Australian composer Nick Kyriakacis.
The concert highlights the duo’s long-standing collaboration, both on and off the stage, offering a glimpse into their musical and personal partnership that sparked the creation of a2. Treat yourself to a delightful afternoon of music and see the musicians at the heart of a2. collaborate for a celebration of music.
