CRAFTING THE FUTURE OF MUSIC
a2. orchestra is excited to introduce our new logo and with it, our new visual identity, reflecting our growth beyond our beginnings as a student ensemble. While we continue to engage young musicians, our focus now centers on innovative programming and a broader community united by artistic excellence.

We are pleased to introduce our new logo and visual identity for a2. orchestra.
When a2. orchestra began, it operated as a student orchestra. Whilst this foundation was formative and important to our early identity, the organisation has evolved over time. Although we continue to value the engagement and development of young musicians, we no longer define ourselves primarily through that lens, with our primary focus now shifting towards innovative, thematic and exciting programming. The orchestra currently reflects a broader community of musicians at varying stages of their careers, all united by a shared commitment to musical excellence.
At the centre of the logo are 120 dots. Each dot represents a musician we have engaged since the orchestra’s founding, which means that the logo is directly symbolic of the individuals who have contributed their skill, time, and commitment to our organisation.
The dots are arranged in a semicircle, which mirrors the traditional layout of an orchestra, therefore the logo recognises the history and discipline of the orchestral tradition in which we work.
The arc of the semicircle, however, is not closed. A subtle fracture interrupts the line of the semicircle, which represents our willingness to look beyond established habits, and to approach repertoire with depth and considered interpretation.
We believe that our new logo reflects our philosophy that the orchestra is foremost a community of musicians, who work together within a respected tradition, and continually seek to deepen the artistic experience for performers and audiences alike.
One hundred and twenty musicians have shaped our journey so far. We look forward to the many more who will shape its future.
