BAROQUE TO BEETHOVEN
Sunday 18th August 2024 (THIS CONCERT HAS PASSED)
Callaway Auditorium, UWA Conservatorium of Music
CONCERT
DESCRIPTION
a2. orchestra presents Triumph and Tragedy – a concert which contrasts raw drama and euphoric heights in an epic array of works showcasing Richard Wagner's Siegfried's Funeral March from Götterdämmerung, a poignant elegy for the legendary hero, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major, a stunning work that balances virtuosic violin passages with lush orchestration, and Ludwig Van Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A Major, a masterpiece that traverses a wide emotional range, from stirring triumph to sorrowful reflection.
This concert will also feature a World Premiere piece by a young Perth composer Amy Skellern. This concert will feature violin soloist Lisa Smith, the winner of the 2022 People's Choice Award for the UWA VOSE Concerto Competition. Join us for an unforgettable night at Government House Ballroom, submerged in music and emotion amongst the giants of classical music.
