THE TROUT

The Trout brought together three works inspired by different aspects of nature, centred around one of chamber music’s best-loved works, Schubert’s Trout Quintet. The program opened with Mozart’s Divertimento No. 1 in D major, followed by Schubert’s Trout Quintet, whose flowing melodies and lively rhythms evoke the movement and energy of a river. The concert concluded with Dvořák’s String Quintet No. 2 in G major, a work filled with rich melodies and vibrant colours.

The program was presented as a musical journey through the natural world, moving from Mozart’s elegance and charm through Schubert’s playful Trout to the expansive, outdoors-inspired sound of Dvořák. Performed by a2. orchestra’s chamber musicians, The Trout explored the way composers have used music to capture the character, movement and atmosphere of nature.
