Sanctity placed the French horn at the centre of the program, exploring the instrument across music from the Classical era to the present day. Rather than presenting the horn simply as a solo voice, the program explored its different characters and relationships within the ensemble, moving from Kerry Turner’s dramatic ’Twas a Dark and Stormy Night and Gounod’s lyrical 6 Mélodies pour cor à pistons to Rosetti’s Concerto for 2 Horns in E-flat Major.

The program concluded with Haydn’s Symphony No. 44 “Trauer”, bringing together the intimacy of the chamber ensemble with the weight and intensity of the symphonic tradition. Sanctity reflected a2. orchestra’s interest in building programs around unexpected connections, using the unusual focus on the French horn to create a different perspective on both familiar and lesser-known orchestral repertoire.
